Did you go to Harrogate Film Festival? We did and we had a blast!
The inaugural Harrogate Film Festival event took place 3rd to 5th March 2017 and was supported and sponsored by over 20 businesses, including Limelight HR. There were screenings of Night at the Museum at the Royal Pump Rooms, Scarface at Revolution de Cuba and Shaun of the Dead at Hales Bar. In addition the acting and filmmaking workshops made it a spectacular celebration of film.
We really had a great time; especially at the filmmaker’s competition Comedy Screening which took place at Everyman Theatre. Films from all over the globe had us in stitches and were followed by a Q&A with one of the Directors. Limelight HR proudly sponsored the Comedy Award and we presented during the Closing Ceremony at the Crown Hotel. Sadly the winners, United Guys Network, couldn’t be there as they were all the way over in Canada. That meant we had the added bonus of taking home the trophy for safekeeping!
We also had the honour of joining the table of one of the night’s big winners. We sat with Dave Gilbank of Tadah Media, along with the leading actress from his award-winning films, Kathryn Hanke. Working Late and Polterheist deservedly won the Harrogate Film Festival’s Critics Choice Award and the Audience Choice Award respectively.
Adam Chandler, Director of the festival, did such a fantastic job organising and running the festival and we can’t wait to do it all again next year. It takes place 2nd to 4th March 2018 – who knows what treats will be in store!
