I've only got one team member, do I really need contracts and handbooks?

To be honest, most people don’t contact us for Handbooks and Policies until they reach at least 5 staff. But the way we look at it, even one staff member deserves to know how things work and that they are valued enough to have everything in place that they would get from a bigger employer. Plus, with the new legal updates, there is a greater need than ever to have everything you need in place. That being said, if you just want a Contract at this stage, get in touch, and we can quote you for that.

What are the benefits of having employment contracts and handbooks?

Why free updates for 2026 and 2027?

We want to make sure you have everything you need to protect and grow your business and to support your staff and managers. The Employment Rights Bill has now been introduced however many of the reforms won’t take effect until 2026 and 2027. We want to make sure you have everything in place to keep you up to date for the next 2 years.

What's not included?

The free updates don’t include changes you choose to make personally as a result of changes to the business or the way you work, although we can help with this for a fee. When it comes to the legal changes, we will simply ask you to provide us with the most recent version of your Handbook so we can make the updates, or we can provide specific updates to you if you would like to make the changes yourself.

What's the process and how long does it take?

We will get in touch with you to talk you through the entire process and your needs. If you are good to go, we will ping you the invoice for the investment and a form to complete that collects everything we need. As soon as we have received payment and your completed form, we will get cracking on your contract. This will take us 2 weeks to complete and send back to you for your review and feedback. Next up, we work on the handbook, which will take approx 6 weeks to complete and again, we will send it back to you for review and feedback. Then we finish up with the GDPR Handbook and Policy, which is a final 2 weeks. The quicker you can review and feedback, the quicker we can finalise everything for you.

How much work do I need to do?

We make this as painless as possible for you. All we need from you is your completed form, your branding and your feedback and review; that's literally it. We handle the rest.

What if I have amended my policies and handbook in between times?

No problem. Just ping us your most up-to-date versions, and we will ensure we are working on those.

What happens if I have specific policies that I want to include?

We're pretty confident we will have everything you need but if you have some super specific policies that you want to include, we can quote for any additional work that might need to be covered off to include them.

Do you offer ongoing HR support?

We sure do! We offer HR consultancy services beyond the package. We can provide support with employee relations, hr projects, reward and benefits, training, and more.

What changes are we going to see because of the Employment Rights Bill?

The UK Employment Rights Bill brings significant reforms aimed at improving worker protections and rights, some from day one of employment.

Key changes include:

  • Day-One Employment Rights: Employees will now have protection from unfair dismissal from their first day of employment, removing the previous two-year qualifying period. Additionally, rights to paternity leave, parental leave, and bereavement leave will also be granted from day one.

  • Zero-Hours Contracts Reform: Exploitative zero-hours contracts will be banned. Workers who regularly work a set number of hours will have the right to a contract that reflects those hours, providing more job security and predictable income.

  • Flexible Working: Flexible working arrangements will become a right from day one of employment, making it easier for employees to request changes to their work schedules or locations.

  • Fire and Rehire Practices: The controversial practice of firing and rehiring employees on less favourable terms will face new restrictions, protecting workers from being forced into worse conditions.

  • Sick Pay: Statutory sick pay will be available from the first day of illness, and the lower earnings limit will be removed, meaning all workers, regardless of income level, will qualify.

  • Enhanced Union Rights: Workers' rights to unionize and participate in union activities will be strengthened, supporting greater collective bargaining.
